Hair removal with depilatories

Hair removal with depilatories

Ladies, it is the time of the year to start thinking about wearing shorts, tank tops and swim suits, and managing unwanted body hair. Depilatory creams, lotions, roll-ons and foams can be effective forms of hair removal. They work by dissolving the hair through a chemical reaction with its protein structure. Once the product is applied, wait 5 to 10 minutes and promptly remove by gently rubbing with a washcloth. Make certain to completely and thoroughly wash the treated area and that no trace of the product remains. The downside of these products include the mess, unpleasant odour, and the harsh chemical agents (calcium thioglycolate or barium sulfide) can produce an allergic reaction. If you havenot used depilatories before, it is recommended that you perform a patch test on your skin before expanding use to larger areas. It is important to neutralize the potentially intense drying effects of depilatories on the skin by moisturizing just-treated areas.
