Acne and shaving

Acne and shaving

For guys with acne, shaving can present quite a challenge. Try both electric and disposable razors to find out which one can give you the best results. You’ll need to also take a bit more time to care for your skin before and after each shave. Preparation involves softening the hairs prior to shaving by lathering on a moisturizing shave gel. A multiple-blade razor with a lubricating strip will reduce the number of strokes needed, as well as deposit moisture to just-shaved areas. As important as finding the right razor is, it is equally important to use the right technique. Apply gentle pressure against your skin, carefully and delicately manoeuver around and over areas with acne lesions. Use only clean sharp blades, dirty ones can nick the blemishes and further inflame your skin. If you’re unsure, look for a razor with an indicator strip that let’s you know when it’s time to replace the cartridge. Rinse your blades in between strokes, rinse off your face when you’re finished, pat dry and apply an acne medication or restore hydration with a non-comedogenic moisturizer. Avoid squeezing or picking at your acne to minimize scarring and discoloration.
