Check for basal cell carcinomas

Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) is the most common form of skin cancer, and it is most prevalent on the head or neck in people 40 years of age or older. Skin type and sun exposure levels are some of the primary contributing factors. To detect the commonest type of basal cell cancer, look for small pearl-colored bumps that may increase in size and bleed easily. These nodules can be red, tan or white, or black or brown in dark-haired people, and can resemble a mole. See your doctor if you notice anything that you suspect might be a basal cell carcinoma. Incorporating the use of a sunscreen into your daily skin care regimen and wearing protective clothing and accessories can limit the amount of UV damage to your skin.
