Baby acne is very common and tends to appear a few weeks after birth. It is characterized by small whiteheads on the cheeks, forehead and chin. The exact cause is unknown, however, experts speculate that the acne is caused by the hormones that a baby receives from the mother near the final stages of pregnancy. Without any medical treatment, your babys acne will resolve on its own within a few weeks. Do not over wash or apply any acne medications to your babys very delicate skin. Instead use only a mild soap or wash that is specifically formulated for babies once daily and gently pat dry.
