Getting your psoriasis under control may be an ongoing challenge, but there are some things that you can do to help. It might be more difficult during the winter months, but try to get some sun – it is a well known fact that some sun exposure improves this condition, but be careful not to get burned. Whenever possible, reduce stress levels – try yoga or meditation to help you relax. Smoking and drinking can worsen psoriasis; and if you are being treated with acitretin or methotrexate, avoid alcohol use all together, because the combination can result in liver damage. Try to resist removing the scales, since your attempts may irritate the skin lesions further. Use a suitable moisturizer twice daily, but ask your doctor for recommendations.
