Unlike soaps, shaving gels are gentler on the skin, soften hairs for easier removal, help to create a lubricated surface for the razor to glide over and they also have a moisturizing effect. Shave gels come in a variety of formulations that include special moisturizers, vitamins and botanicals (even avocado). Shaving is most effective when the skin is moist, so start by applying an adequate amount of shaving gel to the area being shaved. Use long, even strokes in a downward direction with a clean, sharp razor. Rinse the razor in between strokes with warm water to remove the cut hairs and excess gel. Rinse just-shave skin with warm water, gently pat dry with a clean towel and moisturize.
