Donot forget your sunglasses! Long-term sun exposure can lead to cataracts and age-related macular degeneration. Sunglasses can play an essential part in maintaining proper eye care. Eyes, like skin, are very susceptible to ultraviolet radiation, and the potential for damage from the intensity of UV rays is present all year long. The lack of sunshine is deceptive – you do not feel the heat, but the UV index can remain high during the winter months. So, as you head out the door, be sure to apply sunscreen and grab your sunglasses, a wide-brimmed hat, or both!
